Little Boy Blue…

Thus far, the menswear collections seem out-of-touch in that they portray an uber-minimalistic aesthetic (ie Jil Sander) or they’re far too outlandish. I think this reflects the chaos and change that’s occurring in the market – men aren’t sure whether to invest in “timeless” pieces or to buy into the laid back trend toward eclectic suiting and business causal outfits. At a time when joblessness hit 9.5%, it’s not an easy choice!

Blue suiting has become a happy medium in fashion houses across the spectrum, from the makers of classic Italian beauties at Canali or trendier designers like Thierry Mugler. For spring 2010, there’s no need to sing the blues: it’s more about brighter colors like baby blue, aqua and denim hues than it is about navy.
